SiteWise Web Consultants

SiteWise Web Consultants all started as a Senior Project group organized to create a dynamic, functional, secure, responsive, fully compatible, aesthetically pleasing, easily updated,  and informative website to bring exposure and monetary contributions to the Cal Poly Pomona Mitchell C. Hill Student-Run Data Center. The SDC was a huge project started through a generous donation from the Mitchell C. Hill Foundation (Information on Mitchell C. Hill Foundation click here.) and was contributed to and developed by various Computer Information System Alumnus over the past years. As the SDC steadily grew with the charitable donations of industry leaders like Juniper Networks, Western Digital, Cisco Systems, and Avanade exposure to the public and other future contributors was greatly needed.

With Dr. Ronald Pike as our professor and client, SiteWise Web Consultants created a site exactly to the specifications of the client along with full weekly reports on progress and expected completion times. When the project was completed SiteWise Web Consultants also provided the client full documentation and tutorials on how to easily contribute to the site and how the system was setup and hosted on the SDC itself for further development by a future webmaster.

The SDC website was created and hosted on the SDC through a Proxmox Virtual Linux Box Container where we proceeded to install WordPress through the Debian Linux console. From the container we were able to get the basic WordPress installation installed and setup to the specifications of our client and proceeded to gather and create content for the site through a variety of research, interviews, and collaborations with current SDC staff. We met with our client Dr. Pike on a weekly basis with a formal report on the progress and gained invaluable input and criticism to complete the site successfully. When the site was finally completed and filled with great content we proceeded to security test the site with a variety of security tools including Nessus Scan, and OWasp. We also made sure to setup a secure HTTPS connection to the site to ensure a secure encrypted connection at all times. After troubleshooting all functionalities and compatibility with different mobile devices and browsers we fully published the site and presented the project to the our client and our classmates.

Our client was very pleased with the outcome and used the site to present the SDC project to a variety of high profile tech companies and even received a charitable donation of $125,000 to the SDC  from Avanade because of the site. SiteWise Web Consultants consisted of six group members including myself as Senior Project Manager, Front and Back-End Developer and Content Creator, Sophia Chung as Assistant Project Manager and Front-End Web Developer, Javier Villarreal as Back-End Web Developer, Brent Lee as Linux Admin and Content Creator, Jeffrey Teng as Content Creator and Web Developer, and Kevin Edralin as Tester and Debugger.
